Early Bird discounts for SCGS 2021 DNA and Genealogy Jamboree is approaching and Mid-week Special Event

Please note that we like to help our neighbor advertise Southern California Genealogy Society virtual DNA Jamboree on Friday-Saturday June 4-5, 2021 and Genealogy on Friday-Saturday June 11-12, 2021. These conferences have always been informative and helpful in teaching the genealogist the latest in DNA techniques in tracing to understanding DNA for a new beginner to pinpointing innovations in research. The early bird discount is coming up soon and we are letting you know that you should take advantage before April 26, 2021. SCGS has even offered a mid-week-long series of events, both educational and fun in between that everyone will find the unique showing of specials, prize drawings, virtual exhibitors, product questions and answers, round table research assistance and a social hour. for more information, please hit here.

A Message from the GSHA-SC Board

Dear GSHA-SC members and the general public: Our chapter and society as a whole has been struck with a crisis that every person in the world has had to experience. We hope you and your families will be given the strength to weather this unwelcome tide of events. Since our meeting space at the Southern California Genealogical Society in Burbank will be impacted by the amount of attendees that can be present. With this in mind, we will have a hybrid meeting with Zoom and in person attendance. .

However, we are planning to have virtual meetings using GoToMeeting or Zoom. When we schedule meetings, they will be promoted with Facebook, email blasts and in some cases, mailed notifications.

We hope you will have patience with us as we work through this transition. You matter to us. Thank you.

GSHA-SC is a 501(C)(3) non-profit California corporation #33-05894533, a non-profit group maintained purely by volunteers, as such we donate some our funds to benefit the awareness of preserving history, teaching our members and non-members how to do genealogy and promoting genealogy where and when we can. In the past, we had helped organization, such as Hispanic Heritage Project in scanning old documents to preserve history and we helped underwrite Genealogy Garage at the local Los Angeles Public Library, where they promote all types of research in areas of genealogy. There have been others throughout the many years this organization has been in existence. Past records of donations can be reviewed, if requested.

The Genealogical Society of Hispanic America – Southern California (GSHA-SC) was founded in 1992 to promote Hispanic genealogical and historical research with a focus on the American Southwest and Mexico.

Our goal is to expand awareness and knowledge of individual Hispanic culture, history, and traditions.

We encourage the sharing of information through:

• general meetings

• workshops

• research days

• Chapter newsletter

• GSHA journal

You are invited to join our members who are searching for their Hispanic roots. We are affiliated with GSHA, a national entity, based in Pueblo, Colorado. There are separate Pueblo and Utah GSHA Chapter.

Whether you have just began to explore your family lines or you are an experienced researcher, please join us. We have members who are eager to help you begin your ancestral search and as a group we benefit from the knowledge that veteran researchers have to offer.

We are proud to represent a membership that is both willing and able to assist you in discovering a rich and colorful Hispanic Heritage . . . a heritage in which you can be justly proud.
