Interviewing Techniques
This
workshop will prepare you for a basic interview…and provide tips for more
difficult quests and questions. If you have some tips you have learned, prepare
to share!
Your
workshop leader will be veteran genealogist Donie Nelson who began with
haphazard interviews in the 1980s, but learned through trial & error how to
get the most out of each interview.
Genealogy Garage workshops assist family researchers at all levels of expertise. No matter
whether you are a beginner or have been researching for years, here is an
opportunity to “tune-up” your current research skills or learn something new
about family history research.
To RSVP:
CALL Central Library Info: 213-228-7000, then ask for the History and Genealogy
Dept. Tell them you are making a reservation for the Genealogy Garage workshop
on [give the specific date]. Give them your name and an e-mail address or phone
number so you can be notified if the workshop is unexpectedly cancelled.
Genealogy Garage is designed to be
interactive, so bring your questions! Other items to bring: pedigree charts,
family group sheets, pens/pencils, paper, and/or your laptop computer. Genealogy
Garage workshops are limited to 12 attendees, so please RSVP.
At the
end of most workshops Charlotte Bocage will conduct a tour of the Genealogy Department.
Need help? Stay after the tour for personalized attention.
