Sunday, February 1, 2015

Join us on Saturday, February 7 at the SCGS Library in Burbank for our General Meeting and Installation of 2015 Board of Directors.

Our featured speaker Dr. Carlos R. Herrera will be giving a presentation on Juan Bautista de Anza: The King’s Governor in New Mexico. After lunch Donie Nelson will be giving a workshop titled "How City Directories Fill in the Gap.” City Directories have been around since the 1700's and are the precursors to the telephone book, but continued to be published even after the telephone was the established form of communication. City Directories are one of the most over-looked resources by genealogists. This “hands on” workshop will show you how to use city directories and interpret the information they contain. Bring information on ancestors who lived in the United States. Workshop leader Donie Nelson has been researching since 1980.

See the February 2015 issue of Huellas del Pasado for directions to the library.
